GIMLI is a German-learning app. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the app, why it is processed, and the choices available to you. GIMLI does not require an account, name, email address, phone number, or password.
GIMLI stores the following information locally on your device so that the app can work and remember your learning experience:
Voice recordings are made only after you grant microphone permission and choose to record. They are stored locally and are not uploaded by GIMLI. You can delete recordings and locally stored app data from the app or Android system settings. Uninstalling the app removes its local app data, subject to Android's backup and device settings.
GIMLI uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used and to improve it. Firebase Analytics may process app-instance and device information, such as app version, operating system, device identifiers, approximate region derived from IP address, and interactions with the app.
We also send pseudonymous usage events, for example when learning content is opened or imported, an exercise is started or completed, a session-duration range, a feature succeeds or fails, and which app, translation, learning-level, and plan settings are selected. We use ranges for durations and counts where practical; we do not intentionally send the text of your articles, vocabulary, translations, recordings, name, email address, or other direct identifiers as Firebase Analytics event parameters.
Firebase Analytics creates or uses an app-instance identifier. Its processing is governed by Google's terms and privacy practices. Learn more in Firebase's Privacy and Security information and Google's Privacy Policy.
GIMLI uses Google AdMob to show ads. AdMob and its advertising partners may process information such as advertising identifiers, IP address, device and app information, approximate location, and ad interaction information to provide, measure, limit, and improve advertising. Depending on your region and choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized.
When required, GIMLI uses Google's User Messaging Platform to present consent or opt-out choices. You can revisit available advertising privacy choices in the app's settings. Users in applicable U.S. states can use this control to exercise the relevant "Do Not Sell or Share" / targeted-advertising opt-out choices. Google explains its partner-data practices at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
GIMLI uses Firebase services to make optional learning content available for download. When you browse or download this content, Firebase/Google processes the request and standard technical information needed to deliver it, such as device, app, and network information. Downloaded content is saved on your device.
If you choose an AI translation or AI word-explanation feature, GIMLI sends the word or sentence you selected, together with the requested language, to Google's Gemini service through Firebase AI Logic. Do not submit personal, confidential, or sensitive information to these features. The response is returned to the app and may be saved locally if you choose to save it. Processing of AI requests is subject to the applicable Google/Firebase terms and data practices; see Firebase AI Logic data governance.
GIMLI can schedule local practice reminders on your device after you grant notification permission. These are local notifications, not remote push notifications, and GIMLI does not use a device push token for them.
If you choose to use Android's share feature for a recording or other file, the selected item is shared with the app or service you choose. Its handling is then governed by that recipient's privacy policy.
We do not sell personal information for money. We disclose information to the service providers described above only as needed for analytics, advertising, content delivery, AI features, security, and legal compliance. Advertising-related processing may be treated as a sale, sharing, or targeted advertising under some U.S. state laws; where applicable, the in-app privacy control allows you to opt out.
Local learning data remains on your device until you delete it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app. We do not operate user accounts or a developer-managed profile database for GIMLI. Google and other providers may retain information they process according to their own policies, legal obligations, and retention settings. For questions or requests concerning information under our control, contact us at the email address below.
GIMLI does not knowingly collect direct personal information such as names, email addresses, or contact details from children. The app includes advertising and analytics services. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will review the request.
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the app's design, including Firebase App Check for supported Firebase resources. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, delete, correct, object to, or limit certain processing of personal information. You may also be able to opt out of targeted advertising or sharing through the in-app privacy settings. You can manage Android permissions, reset or limit your advertising identifier, and clear app data through your device settings. Contact us to make a privacy request; we may need information necessary to verify and respond to it.
We may update this policy to reflect changes to the app, its services, or applicable requirements. We will post the updated version here and change the date above.
